Something which is terribly important, but a lot of modern games fail miserably at this. Have you noticed the decent color palette ? Everything fits well together in this stylish, shimmery (chromatic aberration) greenish sci-fi atmoshpheric look. To call the game ugly, seems really harsh. If it was for me, the 3D character models could be skipped entirely. The goal here seems obviously not to have one of those overpolished, modern shooters but a nostalgia trip. Right click or find cogwheel icon - manage - browse local filesĮnjoy better graphics and usable crosshair. Of course, this shouldn't be necessary for eye health, but this is modern "retro" shooters for you. Update: HQ4X set to 1.2 then xBRZ set to 2 fixes how intolerable and shimmery the textures are, while HDR improves the color depth. I'll have to look into that, but workarounds don't fix everything or game balancing. Actually, it may be possible to 360p the game with models, and then use ReShade xBRZ to make the game tolerable looking. Model support fixes the terrible animations, but that's only covering up bad quality. That said, there is a decent amount of configuration that can be used to fix other issues, but not everything. People can probably use Reshade to fix anti-aliasing, but the stock options aren't good enough. The "pinky" is generally too fast, and needs more pain states. Monsters and weapons may need further balancing, but is tolerable. It would be lower if not for the audio and what effects do look good.ĭidn't make an effort to look good, as all the effort went into making the game ugly and janky on purpose. If anything, this game might inspire gzdoom modders to make 3d animations, and then there would be no point to this game. It makes no sense to include ambient occlusion and reflections when you can't enable texture filtering, and the animations are too low fps and resolution. There are improvements with this engine, but the negatives outweigh the positives by an large margin. *may have been fixed in latest patch?*Ģ1: More bad UI navigation: can't use mouse to move player on level select.Ĭonclusion: Brutal Doom / Ion Fury is better. That said, the entire menu system other than Options is overly convoluted, and half of the prompts literally shouldn't exist. Needs stronger AA or texture filtering.Ģ0: GAME BREAKING BUG: if you select difficulty from in profile and EXIT, it switches to the OPTIONS menu and LOCKS YOU IN THE MENU. Pretty poor UI when getting in/out of a game profile.ġ9: Anti-Aliasing if exists, does not alleviate shimmering from "pixel art" textures. ![]() Raise pistol / shotgun clip size, smg damage, and decrease load times.ġ8: Menu navigation. Sensitivity should be 1:1 also.ġ5: Aiming reticle is far too wide, the smg dot is too small, making it confusing.ġ6: Hit detection: Can't hit an enemy behind another enemy reliably.ġ7: Reloading: Sigh. It skips weapons.ġ4: Mouse aiming does not aim 100% up/down. Tab should be map, ctrl should be down, mouse wheel inverted.ġ3: Mousewheel does not cycle weapons properly. Feels like Blood2 now, which also had bad random damage.ġ1: Checkpoints: This belongs on a console for not having proper savegames.ġ2: Default Keybinds are bad. Feels like something missing.ġ0: Dual SMGs. Damage is also too random and unreliable.ĩ: No melee while holding a weapon. Rocket launcher should also be smaller.ħ: 3D Map doesn't mention up/down movement, but it exists.Ĩ: Shotgun looks like a rifle, and not a shotgun. The starting fist weapon is also too big for it's graphics, and should be made smaller and less screen blocking with it's seizure inducing animations. This game does nothing to hide bad framerates. ![]() Doom in comparison, styled all it's monsters symmetrical to not bring attention to low animation rates. Without changing the style, this can be fixed with increased framerate, but the style currently does not look good as is, as it simply puts visual emphasis on how poorly everything is animated. ![]() Why is this worse than doom? Can't modern PCs handle 30fps?Ħ: Janky Animation: Why are they animated in a way that makes it look janky? Classic 2.5D games style their animations to not look janky. Make filtering an option.Ĥ: If you're going to support MODELS, then why can't the resolution of sprites be higher? Aren't you just processing it from the models? Make the sprites higher resolution and fps.ĥ: Framerate of animations. I would be satisfied with bilinear, and xBRZ would be preferable. Borderless is fine, just make it known.ģ: No texture filtering, which makes the game look terrible. actually it's separate option called amount.Ģ: Minimal screen options.
